I´m confused. When I look at the wire diagram for my cb500 -72 it says that I should have a black wire that go to the dimmer switch. When connected to the white cable I should have low and connected to the blue I should have high light.
When I opened the switch all I have is one blue, one white, one brown/white and one brown/blue. I do have a black wire but it´s connected to the killswitch.
Interesting. Possible that someone made changes? A brown/blue wire is usually used on the 360s for the wiring run from the fuse box to tail light switch (which isn't really a switch, don't get me started)...
When I bought the bike it was in pieces so I have never had it running. I thought I´d make my own harness and then i noticed that the cables where different from the diagram. But I have opened the headlight switch now so I know that the brown/blue is instead of the black cable.
Until something isn't working, I wouldn't worry too much about the color of the wires. You should be able to use a multimeter to test to make sure you have power in the correct location and you can also use it to test which switch is the input for the dimmer.
