Heavy engine mods

I'm looking to really build my CB350 motor, I've been looking into Bore-Tech systems. Looking to see if anyone has any experience with using their products, I need to buy new carbs anyways but am looking to see if anyone has used these products and has an idea of what size carb works best? I talked to the guys at Dime City and they said most people run the new Mikuni 30mm, but I didn't know if w/ using all the mods a 32mm or even a 34mm :-\. Or if anyone knows of a flat slide carb that would work better? This is the list of what I plan to use

Electronic ignition system
Big bore kit, 67.5mm
Megacycle new billet cam
valve spring kit w/ 5mm conversion kit.

The 5mm conversion kit is nice. I have installed about half a dozen of them. Nice to run guide seals and an OS intake.

The VM28 comes in a flat slide and I think it would be a good match (for the street) on the bike you're suggesting. VM30 would also work well with those modifications in mind, but I'd skip the VM32 or VM34. Still too much carb for the 362cc you're looking at.

I always wondered what the tradeoff is with the loss of cooling area at the guide, wonder if it would make more sense to take the 7mm valves to a tool shop and have the stems ground to 5mm in the port area

The guide OD remains the same (to fit the original guide bore)...the guide ID is smaller. The bronze guides shed heat much better than the the stock cast iron pieces. The valves are much, much lighter too....same with the retainers, springs and keepers. You can also taper the guide where it protrudes into the port....which can be quite a bit with good porting (which that head can certainly use).
The set up looks a bit odd when it is assembled as everything is much smaller than original.
Also...bore and blend the intake seat to 90% of the OS valve diameter

If you are really serious about the 5mm valve train let me know.....I can help you out on the price and on porting.

I bought all that stuff for my 350. Built it to be a race motor but using on street. Really wish I wouldn't have. Unless you're serious about racing I wouldn't bother. Cost me a small fortune and I could have just built a new CB750 for the same money just in upgrades. My 2 cents bud.

It is easy to put about 2 grand just in a 750 head....then there are Carrillo's, 1000cc cylinders etc etc etc. I've done all that and still bought a busa and an RC51.

Yeah but lets compare apples to apples. Sink 2000-3000 into a 350 to get it performing like a stockish 750 or just buy a 750 on the cheap and freshen it up for same $?

It's a different story if the guy wants to compete in the 350 class. But if he's doing it just to get a more powerful bike?.........

At the same time though you've got the 750 power in the 350 frame, a lot more fun :)

Sometimes buying your horsepower isn't the point of the exercise. ;)

I've sunk at least two grand into my 360 motor so far. Another grand or two will see it complete.
