I would think so. When I stripped my oil plug nothing else needed to be disassembled.

I bought a kz400 that had a stripped head. I went to NAPA and bought a head repair kit, and have been very pleased with it. It gives you a tap that bores and threads you head then you screw in the supplied insert, Seat it with a flared tool they give you and boom your head is a good as new. If you put lots of grease on the tap it will hold all the chips. Just make sure your valves arent in the way or you could bend them with the tap. These kits are a little more money than putting coils in but are much better in my opinion. If the end of your helicoil extends into the combustion chamber it will act like a glow plug and give you detination. Good luck.

When I was building engines in NC for a few of the NASCAR teams if we had a good head but had a damaged spark plug hole we always used a "time-sert". It's a full double threaded insert and it's copper so it dissipates heat much better that a steel heli-coil. The kit is a little pricey but... I used it to repair the spark plug hole in my CB450 and works great. It also gives you a seat to seal on either flat for washered plugs or tapered. Here's a link to their web site. Heli-coils are probably the cheapest but in my opinion not the best. Good luck!
