Hey guys I figured I would set up an account finally after reading so much of the forum so maybe along the way pay the forum back with everything I have learned. I am just starting out and I am 17. Which I think makes me an outlier on the scale but I am cool with that. I bought my bike, a 1970 Honda CL 350, secretly back in September for $600 without moms permission (yea yea make all the fun you want) and drove home with it on the back of truck and showed up and home, never seen her so mad. Bought some tools, manuals, some gear, and insurance and am ready to learn. I pretty much started as a mechanical novice like many people here, but have picked up a few things along the way and would at least consider myself a semi-skilled mechanic. I have came a very, very long way and I decided to stop playing video games and get my hands dirty with you guys. Thanks
P.S. I am not some hipster looking to mangle up a poor little Honda and try to make a cafe racer, I am aware of the little CL 350's limits and am just looking at a semi refurbish to get in everyday driving oder.
Welcome to Dtt and nice first ride. There is a bunch of great members from bama on Here and if you can make friends with them you have a huge support team. The ones I know well are in the Birmingham area and I consider them family and I am 3000 miles away. Post up
What you need and most folks here will help you out. Cheers.
Nice bike, the 350s are a cool simple bike to learn on (riding and wrenching)... Buy some good gear and wear it and your mom will feel better... Lol. I didn't tell anyone I was buying a bike until after either.. But I was North of 40...you only regret opportunities wasted. By the way motorcycles are far more addictive than drugs.
Thanks Guys! Yea... I left it covered in my truck working under a tarp for as long as I could until my mom wised up and starting wondering why I was parking down the street from my house ;D She agreed to let me keep it if only I was to pay for every single thing, have the highest amount of insurance possible, and ATGATT. Which, in my opinion was a fair deal. I will get started on a project log soon. I am kind of a broke, bare bones rebuild. So stay tuned
