Hey there! My name is Jami and I'm from Nashville. I recently just bought a 1979 Suzuki GS550 and I have the intentions of building it into a cafe racer. I'm a huge fan of DTT and have been reading for some time now. I'm looking forward to advise from you all! Thanks

Jami

Welcome Nashvegas!

I'll keep an eye out for the GS show, if totally new to the game... ask before you cut

advice* sorry lol and thanks Tune-A-Fish! I'm looking to do some suspension and handlebar control upgrades before I cut anything lol if you have any advice, I'm all ears!

Here it is! I bought it with 7,000 miles on it. I took it on a little trip and hit a mud patch so that's why it's dirty lol Not 100% stock but that's fine. Runs pretty well (not awesome due to carbs sync needs probably). Tires are almost brand new. From what I've read, the first things I want to go ahead and upgrade are suspension and brakes. Lower it in the process and add some clip ons. My controls need a little TLC as well. What do you guys see? Any ideas?

First glance... that rear axle is tweaked bad... leaning top to right, hope its the rim/hub.

The rest looks nice... really nice and not much to get it sorted out for the coming ride season.

Hello from Denver. Tire tread looks more like an off road tread so be careful on the streets. Pods could be the reason for the drive-ability. I like the bars just the way they are.

I think that may be wasted shock in the second to last pic

Thanks for your input guys! I dug into the bike a bit more and it's definitely the shock. I'm reading more on which shocks to buy for it (suspension plan). Definitely going to sell these tires and get some road tires as well.

Welcome @JamiT!

Just joined and started a fresh project as well. Looking forward to seeing it come together!
