8) the donor bike arrives tomorrow xj600, I've got a long list of things to buy ! I will be taking inspiration from Oberdan Bezzi's Continental Circus ( hence the xj donor) fell in love with it first time I saw it. The base bike has had new everything and the last owner tried to restore it to its 1985 birthdate glory. He was a little put out when I told him it was getting the the age racer treatment. I paid £500 for it and a spare engine.
My first question for the forum is .... What do you think the tank most resembles. I am convinced it's an RD400 tank but it could also be a custom build, google one ran buzzing continental circus if you fancy a guess. I will post a build thread once the bike arrives tomorrow lunch and I've had chance to photograph it.
Glad the world didn't end rant you ?

Hi,look forward to seeing the bike. Used to own a xj400. Loved it but didn't know enough about bikes at the time and could never get it running right! Been looking at them again lately as the older stuff is becoming too pricey now.
Merry Xmas.:))

Is this the tank you're talking about?

If so, its certainly not an RD400 piece. Aftermarket for sure. Likely fibreglass as its on a race bike.

Tank part number (rd350) RD234T about half way down the page.

Not exact, but close.

Welcome to DOT. I'm not far from you in Manchester but do all my bike work in Newton.

If you manage to get it anything like that, then your onto a winner.

Just had a read of Obedan Bezzi blog and it looks like he only designs the bikes for someone else to build and this one hes says will remain virtual. So I'd take that as being you'll have an original when you complete it.
