Help attaching photos

Could somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong as my photos aren't showing up on my posts. I'm just attaching jpeg files using the
attachments option under the text. I notice that my posts have a paperclip symbol at the top where others have a sheet paper symbol.
What does it all mean !

Some times they are slow to load. It is a lot easier if you have them on photo hosting site and link them.
