HELP! Can't get throttle/controls off stock bars

I am in need of help (before I need to be at work tonight preferably)! I am trying to put clip-ons on my CB360. I have the clutch lever side off completely, but this throttle side is killing me. I can't for the life of me get throttle tube and control box off.. I have the cables loose at the bullet connectors, but the internal routing combined with the throttle tube doesn't give me any play to try get anything off. Does any one have any tricks or places to look to figure it out?

Also, with this clip-on installation, will I need shorter cables for anything (clutch/brake/throttle) or with the stock ones work?

Thanks!

Joe

(I just left the grip on because I am reusing them)

Just unbolt the handlebars themselves from the clamps and you'll have all the play you need, that's if I'm reading the situation correctly.

Getting them off at the carb was the key! I already had the bars completely off and tried to get slack in the cables that was but had not luck. Once the cable slipped off at the carbs, I went to slip it off the throttle tube and it was already falling off! Thanks for the advice guys. Now I've got to figure out how to get it all back together....

Now can anyone answer my other questions? Will I need shorter cables for anything up there? Also, since I have everything taken apart, will I need to readjust any of the cables if I didn't take any of the other ones off (brake or clutch)?

Thanks again.

It sounds like maybe you should just stick with the stock bars. Getting everything neat and well adjusted and not prone to breakage is going to mean buying new cables. Plus, I assume the rest of your bike is stock. Clip-ons are going to be uncomfortable with that setup.

Agreed - you'll be knees to elbows without moving the foot controls back.

And cable adjustment only takes a little bit of work - you'll spend more time getting the carbs right again than putting the bars on took.

You should be able to use the stock cables but you'll probably have to re route them.

Thanks for the advice guys but it's done. The bars are on, cables are routed. I did run into a problem rotating my clutch lever into the right place, something popped and I got a lot of slack in the clutch cable. I'm guessing I'll just need to re-route it to use the slack.

Also, Richard (I assume, hah), I already have my rear sets on and ready to go. Rear brake is a little weak, but that will get an adjustment as soon as everything else is buttoned up.

Could be that the clutch cable sheath wasn't seated all the way on one side and moving it around dropped the ferrule into its seat. Glad you got it sorted out.
