Help me take my springs off!

Aetsh

Coast to Coast
I wanna take my springs off my rear shocks to "spruce them up" and paint them..I know its gotta be pretty easy, but I'm unsure of how to go about it!!!

To those who have taken apart Honda CB shocks to get the springs off, can you please walk me through it?

whats wrong wtih the ones you have on your bike now?..

its looks clean!

That isn't my bike, but mine are slightly rusty, and I like the look of Gloss black spring, on a silver shock

I am willing to help a fellow DTT'er do most anything I can...but helping you get your spring off...well that just goes beyond the realm of normal friendship!!! ;D

there's a writeup somewhere in the $50 mod thread..
here's what mine looked like when I did it:

not the most elegant, or safe, contraption.. but it worked.

once the spring compresses enough those two semicircle bits at top are no longer under pressure and can just be taken out.

I got a set of those, the top eye is threaded on the shaft, there is a nut you can get a wrench on underneath it then put a socket extension in the eye and turn it until it comes off. then reverse to re-assemble.

No bad jokes ;D

oh, my shocks are for a cb350. so you may have to ignore my post completely.

Yeah the shocks on the CM's don't have keepers, the head is a solid cast piece
