Help needed please! CB750 DOHC engine build

Been Around the Block
Hey guys, I've hit a road block while building my engine. In this picture there is an o-ring shown and the casings have witness marks but I can't find any listing on microfiches and I unfortunately don't recall the setup when I stripped it.

I'm after advice/ opinions about whether this is a rubber or alloy o-ring or if a ring of jointing compound would be safe?

Here's the pic from the manual.

Thanks in advance,

You'd need a rubber o-ring in there. If you can't get one from Mr Honda you should be able to find one at a hardware store.

I wouldn't try and use jointing compound by itself - it will either block the passage straight away or possibly later on if / when it dislodges.

You will need to make sure you get the correct O-ring material.
if you can find in a Viton or Teflon you should be okay but it will need to be able to handle heat.
They are also excellent with just about any type of fluids.

By the way what year DOHC is this?

Cklamer: it's an 82. I'll make sure to find a heat suitable material. Thanks!

Check with the guys at cb1100f.net

I would assume the o ring pack from harbor freight would work.
They sell a viton metric set.

O ring means rubber.
Can't use sealant

Thanks surffly. My nearest harbor freight is 7500 miles away but I'll check out the local hardware. :)

Is there anyone who can enlighten me on the oil control orifice which fits next to the o-ring mentioned above? My part has gone walk about at the vapor blasters and now I'm stuck.
Pictures, possible wreckers, spares, anything at all!

Thanks,

Matt
