I have pulled the master cylinder to bits and I am now installing a new kit in it.

The pictures (top bits) show the old internals ordered as they came out. (I think they were wrong previously because the snap ring was out side the circlip!)

The row under that are the new bits in the supposed order.

The diagram shows the work shop manual

I am confused: where does the circlip go. Inside or outside the Boot? (Does it hold the boot in place or is it a stopper for the piston ?)

Where does the internal snap ring sit and what does it do?

The rubber cup I have to the side - is it correctly sited on the old piston assembly?

your disassembly of your old master is correct, with out a seal on the piston,it would never generate any pressure. The snap ring holds the piston assembly in the master, the wire clip is there to secure the dust boot in place, good luck!!
