Hi guys, I would like to change my mag wheels on the 1979 Suzuki GS425EN. There´s a model of GS425(N) that come with spoke wheels, however I can find them anywhere. I think tha GS400 spoke wheels are compatible. There is any other Suzuki motorcycle with compatible spoke wheels? Any advice? Help is appreciated. Regards, Carlos.

Find the part #'s and try to cross reference as much as you can.........

You may be able to find spoke wheels from an early GS450 "T" to fit, or maybe even the rear wheel from a GT550 or GT750.

Let me know how your progress goes as I am looking into doing the same mods to my bike.

Sorry for the delay... too busy to reply! I was doing some research as Big Rich told me. And yes, they are compatibility with other Suzuki models. I guess the most important think to consider are the hubs. FYI: I´m in Argentina, zero parts to find, only from 1979 to 1982 they import motorcycles and closed again for about 10 years, nowadays with the goverment policies is a pain in the a** to import new or used parts, however everything is possible. So, if i bought something in the US I cannot make a mistake with the part number.

I found http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gs425-e-1979-usa_model16012/partslist/ (as many others) intresting because you can find a part and compare with another motorcyle or do a global search with the part number. Attached are two text files with hub models (front & rear) and the ones that they used the same. As far as I can imagine, having the correct hub, it´s easy to find a rim and spokes to complete the wheel and using the disk, drum and all that stuff of the mag wheel.

A month ago I found this offer. I contact the seller but he has no idea if they were compatible. After all the research I did, I guess they are OK.

78 Suzuki GS400 wheel rear

Keep me posted if you go forward with this... Sorry for my english...

Wow! Those are some expensive wheels.........normally I've seen them on eBay for around $50 each (I'm sure it's different with you being in Argentina though).

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't give you too many problems though. Sometime the spacers may be different sizes, or the rear sprocket carrier can be different sizes, etc. But as far as "absolutely not compatible", I wouldn't worry about that.

Have you checked out the GSResources yet? There is a wealth of info about the old GS bikes.

I already searched and asked on GS resources but no one can confirm 100% it's a direct fit. They say it should fit but well find out soon since I bought this a few days ago.

Nice wheels & price...!!! Looking for compatibility, there´s a better web site that shows the wheel and oem part number, so yo can open several browser windows an compare them. My idea was to find the hubs that comes with the gs425n because (correct me if i'm wrong) all the other parts are the same in both models (dis, bearing, drums, etc) and I don´t need to adapt any stuff. Another issue is that I can install a wider rim (original 1.60ax18 @front & 1.858x18 @rear), maybe a 1.85 at front and 2.nn at rear. So, I will keep looking for that and for any advice with this stuff.

Big Rich I din´t check GS resourses yet, and yes they are a lot or cheap prices in ebay... you can find anything of this stuff here, forget about it... if you run a 70/80 motorcycle, you better have it in a good shape or you must be magician to find anything to replace!

Jf.. you can look compatibility parts in whis web site, better than the one I posted before, you can compare the oem part numbers in GT/GS motorcycles.
