Hi folks. Bought someone elses abandoned project. '74 Suzi GT750, previous owner put '88 CBR 600 front end on it (tripletrees and all).

Stem bearings feel 'bad'....much 'bad'. Should I be buying GT750 stem bearings or CBR??

Thanks

E

You need to know the measurements for the stem, and the neck than order roller bearings that fit. Check here: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=20951.0

That should get ya headed in the right direction. Once you know what size bearings you need head over here: http://www.allballsracing.com/

OOOORRRRRRR... The best way to take care of it, is to get a GT750 bottom tree, press the steering stem out, and swap it with the one on the CBR bottom tree. Will take some heavy equipment and welding to work, but has been done numerous times!

Good luck!

Aight! Thanks mate, I just happen to have said GT750 original stem and welding equipment so I'll go that way. This was originally to be a parts bike for my other kettles and I just really liked the way the CBR wheels, rear swing and front end looked, especially the sports rubber that can be fitted. Since I didn't want to mangle one of my virgin kettles for this the only way forward was to complete this one.

Sorted! Rides great.

Noob mistake, mounted the generic plastic fender too close to the top of the tire. Rolled fine when everything was in the garage, but I failed to account for tire expansion and on a 160 mile test run burned a hole right through the top of the fender :(.

So, $50 for another new fender or find a sticker that can cover a 6" long 1" wide burned out section :)

Oke. Only thing wrong in this pic is I took the flames off last weekend and repainted candy apple red.
