The lady/nieghbor I rent my winter storage garage from has been having problems with her 04 Triumph Speedmaster 800 . At times it runs great then it will start running like shit like it has a slight miss . Her old boyfreind replaced the plugs and found the exhaust was loose so he tightened that up . The bike ran good for a couple of weeks then it started acting up again . Just the other day she called me and said it would turn over but not start . I wasnt there to check but it kinda sounded like no spark . Now today she told me it wouldnt do anything the battery was dead . When I got a chance to go up her place it fired right up for me . Any Ideas , bad coil ?
Any corrosion on the battery terminals? Does she have a battery tender on it (she should if it's being stored for long periods in the cold especially).
Could be a loose connection at the coil, spark plug wire, dirty fuel...
Ya, sounds like a bad connection. My h2 would start and run cold, but quit when it got warm. Bad connection under the seat. Took a few false tries to find it. :
Well I think I got it . Took seat off and side cover to start checking for vaccum problems and to check electrical connections . Started with the battery connections , wow where they loose . She took it to the stealership when she first bought it in the spring to have it checked over and guess what they replace , thats right the battery . Well I took it for a ride and now I want one . Then I let her take it and she said it never ran better . So now she will run it for a while and we will see . Thanks everyone for the input . I knew I could rely on the DTT crew .
