Hey, all you guys with 'Jap poser cafe racers'.... take a look at THIS....

The only thing poser I see is a 44 year old bike with only 9000 miles on it. Shit, I ride almost that a year. Not taking away from the fact that it is a cool bike. The CL poster is just a dick.

What a giant bag of douche. Notice the clubman bars on the BSA by the way?

BAHAHA, i didn't notice that Mike. That is AWESOMELY ironic.

IMHO, Japanese engineering has always been spectacular. The Japanese may not be known for their originality early in the world of cars and motorcycles, but they certainly were able to pick up on someone else's design refine it and produce a more reliable product for less money. Over time they came into their own and started creating their own innovations. Today I think the japanese designers and engineers are some of the best.

Its a nice bike tho...
Id take it!!... and would give 2 shits about what he thinks!!..

;D

I don't get all this self righteous indignation. He's selling a bike from the era and trying to differentiate it from all the crap passed off as cafe racers. It's not a bad old bike for an A65, but it's not restored and concours etc, so it won't bring top dollar, so the seller decides to make a point. So what?

If some douchebag with a POS honda 350 with checkers and stoved in tank thinks the seller hasn't got the right to say what he wants about his bike, then I just don't get it.

Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes there. C'mon guys. Lighten up. It's his bike. I have seen much worse on CL and ebay and not all the projects here or on Cafe BS TV are exactly cafe racers or even decent bikes. Let's just try to raise the standard of bikes and riding and leave the trash talk.

Why would a motor be rebuilt with only 9k on it? Low odometer readings are a screwdriver away-no clue why people put so much emphasis on that.

I just thought it was funny that the guy was trash-talking others in order to sell his bike, that's all. Especially by apparently asserting himself as some sort of final authority on what IS or ISN'T a 'cafe racer'

It's a BSA..................... ::) :eek: ;D

well what do you think BSA stands for??!!...
Everyone who owns a BSA will tell you it stands for: Bitch Siezed Again

Its common knowledge that a BSA needs a top-end rebuild at the beginning of every season.. ;D Damn. My 66 A65 is going through an engine rebuild as you read this...(for the past 2 years...)... ;D

I thought it stood for "bloody sore ass".

To play devil's advocate for a second...

He's mostly just hyping his sale - don't take him too seriously (I mean really, we're gonna let an anonymous CL poster get us all riled up?) :D I'd probably say some of the same things if I was selling a British bike. If he was selling a Japanese bike he'd be deriding the leaky Brits with their crap electronics.

Oh, and putting clubman bars on a BSA isn't ironic... this is possibly a 1960's BSA Lightning Clubman - a production bike which came with the drop handlebars from the factory.

He might have a real collectible there ;)

"Let's just try to raise the standard of bikes and riding and leave the trash talk."

I hear ya Teazer. Kinda seems like he was the one really trash talking though. Thats the point. The real "self righteous" one is the guy who decides to talk shit on people/bikes in a CL ad.

It is a neat bike. He could've easily listed it as just that. A cool, old, kinda rare Brit bike. No need to act like a pompous ass. Thats all. No one was riled up. No one took personal offence. (At least I didnt)

I just thought the guy came across as a snob. Sorry but maybe its the love for piece of crap 350s in me ( ;)) but I have no issue with being annoyed with people who think they're better than anyone else.

Also... He says its a one owner bike. I highly doubt that he was the one owner. This seems like a barn find that he put some money into and is trying to flip. Thats all good with me, but the ad is an asshole move. That is all.

Thats an ugly bike. I dont see anything "cafe racer" about it...other then dropped bars. Granted, a cafe bike is something personal and rather unique...but, if you're going around touting your BSA as a "cafe racer," there better some sort of reference to it being a Tribsa, with a 750 kit and some John Tickle bits.

Paul...

Guy's a wang for certain but....he got all your attention and got you talking about his rusty old Brit POS leaky no-lights door stop.
Von and Killian hit it on the head.....he's hyping his sale of an ordinary rust bucket with clubman bars. Don't see much to be excited about, nor would most......so he riles up as many as he can so the money will rise to the top.

Meh....

No such thing as bad publicity. Maybe someone on this board saw it who wouldn't normally and will quietly buy it. Anyway who cares. People seem pretty thin skinned lately.
