I'm doing a hardtail chopper for a friend here in Welland ,it should be finished by the end of Feb.
Next i'll be building an XS650 enduro with 18" and 21" wheel combo and when that one's done i'll build a clone of a Norton road racer.I also have a bunch of extra parts i'm selling ,i just put and add in under the classifieds.Al
Im building an XS1100. It shares a lot of parts with the 650.
I really like seeing all the modified XS's on this site. Im on a XS forum and while it has good info on the bike, there isnt a lot of extreme modifications going on. Id like to pick up a XS650 this year to play with. Im thinking a single sided swingarm would look great
ive acquired another XS engine if that counts hahah - maybe just for a 1/2
also i saw on kijiji for Nova Scotia there is a bike shop selling a bunch of motors...they say they have some Xs650's there...$30 a piece or 2 for 50$!!
I'm doing a 78' XS650 this spring. I want to lose the stock tank. does anyone know off hand what tanks will fit the frame on this? I'm not scared of mods if that helps.
so I guess I will put it out there. since there are so many of these old beast floating round. anybody have a spare running engine they want to part with.
Now I am in Connecticut, and more than a few states away will kill me on postage.
my old girl is blowing oil from left side current engine is 79 and I was just thinking of swaping it out and rebuilding the one I have but at least I could run.

if it's coming out of the left side, then it's gonna be behind the cover. All you have to do is remove the cover which holds the clutch cable. it's 6 hex bolts and no oil will come out. remove your chain, then replace the 3 oil seals that are back there 1 for your clutch pushrod, 1 for the shifter rod, and 1 that goes behind the sprocket. i just did it on my bike and spend $25 in parts from mikes xs and it only took about 1 hour worth of labor. VERY EASY.
sorry i did not make it clear when the motor is running I have blow back from the left pipe she is running cold from that cylinder with low compression I need rings for sure. and I have not had my head off but maybe valve not seating properly.
I was looking for a plug and play engine someone might want to part with.
