Hey there,
I'm Luca, Italian born currently living in Sydney (Australia).
I owe some pieces of metal and one of those has been/will be converted in a cafe racer. The past/future joke is because it's a constantly evolving project.
The base is a Yamaha XS 400 E12 ... the ugly & younger sister of all the others XS....oh yes, and also the only one with a cantilever monoshock!
It was my father's bike...he dismissed it 'cause he didn't want me to take that bad habit that are motorcycles....well, it didn't work and when I started to put my hands on the XS I already had 2 bikes and couldn't wait for the third!! (crazy Italian laws...I couldn't drive it 'cause I wasn't 21y.o.)
The original idea was just to change the headlamp with a round one and to fit a nicer seat....
...after 5 years the frame has been cut and soldered, the tank and the seat come from a special of Riccardo Totti (http://www.tottimotori.com/), clip-ons from a Honda NSR 125, front caliper from a KTM 640 LC4, and blablabla...
Now I'm here in Australia and the bike is in Rome...I'll be back in one month and I have a fork from a Ducati Monster and another tank waiting to be fitted and so on...... :D

I like to work in two phases...the first one is put everything on...the second one is to take everything off and focus on details. At the moment there are too many wires and cables around, the frame need a repainting etc....but the bike is running fine so I can consider finished the first part.

The other pieces of metal are a CR 250 '99, a zx-6r '04 and a R6 '06.

Glad to be here with you and your creations.

Cheers!

Looks pretty nice man! Welcome to Do The Ton! Would love to see some more pics!

I've no other pics here...well I do but are all done the same day, more or less from the same angle...there'd be no difference. :-\
at home, from the desktop PC I've plenty of pics...mostly of when it was all stripped out!
