Wow. Good lookin' bike you've got there. Where in NG are you? I'm currently in Milledgeville, and my brother who also rides is in Dahlonega.

Thanks Fox... I'm up in Gainesville, and we ride the mountains all the time. There's a small group of Triumph Twins riders up here (Top Side Twins) that I ride with as well as the Revolutionary Rats (Out of Freedom Power Sports). We did a nice little ride Saturday 9 of us. A Speed3, two Tigers, two Bonnies, a Scrambler, a Thruxton, a W650 and something else.

Started at Riders Hill:
Up 60 past Stone Pile, to Skeenah Gap.
Skeenah Gap to Blairsville.
129 in Blairsville down to Jim's Smokin Que for lunch (GREAT BBQ if you haven't stopped there yet)
then 129 to 180
180 over to 75 Helen
75 to Richard Russell Pkwy
Richard Russell back to 180
180 to 129
129 down Blood Mountain to Turners Corner
Turners Corner to 60
60 back to Riders Hill.

What do you and your brother ride?

I live in Dahlonega. (when I'm not working) I have a couple junk XS650's I haven't started on. I'm currently riding and maintaining an XS1100. I also ride an XS650 Special and restoring another. Bottom line: I like to ride.

Well Marty hopefully we'll get to hook up at some point when we're both up in Dahlonega.

Nice bike welcome this site has given me alot of info on this money pit we call a hobby.. nice bike

Very cool. Whenever I get finished with my resto, probably sometime next month(maybe this month if I'm lucky), I'll join you for a ride! I might be a bit out of place with my vintage cafe though. I don't mind if you guys don't mind!

As far as me and my brother, we don't ride. Not because we won't, but I've never had a running bike to ride with him. Soon as I got my bike I tore into it. So, right no where. Haha.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum! I think you'll like it here. Really helpful guys.

Hey Rum, nice Thruxton! Are you ever in the Cumming area (where I live) because I've seen a bike very similar to yours, on Buford highway? I moved here a little over a year ago and I can't get enough of the quality riding in the area, in fact I took the wife up to Dahlonega yesterday. Are you part of the Georgia Moto Ryder group on facebook?

Thank you. Like me she's a work in progress. I doubt I'll ever actually be done with her. I'm up in Gainesville, but I'm over in Cumming at least once or twice a month to get together with some guys for bike nights, and what not. We were actually up in Dahlonega yesterday at Riders Hill for a bit. Went for a short ride out through the mountains nothing too crazy since we had gone for a longer ride on Saturday. Yes I do post on that GMR facebook page, although it seems no one there actually rides. The only things people seem to get excited about are poker runs through the city, going to stunt shows, and showing up to bike nights.... Our group actually likes to ride. I know I've put out open invitations to the GMR on at least 5 rides we've gone on this year, and no one has ever showed up. We're mainly Triumph guys, but we have guys on all sorts of makes and models. It's all about getting out and riding. Shoot me an email if you're out and about some time maybe we can meet up.

I hear that. My Cafe Racer project is about to start, and I'm always tinkering with my daily rider. "Done" is relative I guess. When you say "Bike nights" do you mean just you and your buddies, or is there a regular gathering somewhere that I don't know about? That's cool, I took my wife up there for lunch... I've not heard of Riders Hill, what's that? I haven't been connected with GMR long, and it seems like there's two guys that post a lot and get together, but other than that, not much seems to happen. I haven't joined them in person yet. I would be honored to meet up with you and your Triumph buddies. I'm partial to Japanese bikes ('95 honda magna vf750 is my daily rider), but I appreciate anything with two wheels. I'll give you a buzz and see where that leads. Thanks a lot!!

Not an official bike night just a bunch of us Hooligans getting together. Next time will be at the Castleberry Ale House in Cumming next Wed the 22nd. I hope the GMR guys can get things going I know it's tough and I'll leave it at that. I've even tried to shame them in to riding and couldn't... Riders Hill is just outside of Dahlonega so if you were on the square you were about 3 miles from it. Just outside of town on 60 just passed Walmart, and the reservoir on your right Riders Hill will be on your left. www.ridershill.com They're a complex that sells new and used bikes (Moto Guzzi, MV Augusta, Aprilla) the have a tire store there, and a service center, as well as a cafe. Plus lots of outside seating. It's a great rallying point to start rides from up into the mountains. Really nice people to deal with as well.
