I have been stalking this sight for some time now. I have had 2 motorcycles prior to my 81 suzi. My first bike was a brand new 06 honda shadow 750. Literally a spur of the moment I want a motorcycle, never ridden before purchase. It was a good bike, but after sitting for two years during a little stint overseas, I sold it. Next was a harley electra glide. Financial crunch soon after that purchase and I sold Pearl. Fast forward a few years and an itch i couldn't get rid of and I came upon this suzuki. $500 on craigslist. I figured it had to be a hunk of crap. Well I happened to be talking to an old timer at work and he happened to have a gs750. He told me the engines were basically bullet proof and to go look at it.
I couldn't be happier that I did. I have rode the piss out of it since mid July. The motor runs very strong, and I have honestly have had a blast on it. The guy also gave me a rf1100 shoi helmet included in the price, along with a clymer manual, new oil filter, front fork air pump and a tire guage. I certainly feel like Ive scored.

I really thought about doing the cafe racer modification to my bike, but the more I think about it, the more I want to do a restore and minor mods. What do you think? First on the list, figure out exactly where oil is seeping out from.

Welcome to DTT !

Akron/canton area myself .... Nice looking bike and unless you have another bike to ride when you working on this bike I would say just do small things you can do over the weekend or over winter and still be able to ride it now . Ive heard there calling for a nasty winter here this year so youll have time LOL
You could do small things like change all the fluids , check wheel bearings ( never know ) , change bars to a superbike type bar ? , diff seat ? Keep the motor as is if its running good and have fun man !!!!

Thanks DreadRock!
I hear the winter is going to suck again as well. Hope they are wrong. I don't have another bike to ride, but I'm seriously considering getting a 2013 Kawasaki ninja 1000 not the zx10r, I dont have the back for that. But I may just be dreaming on that. I have debated on the bars. Might try supersport bars, then after, clubmans if I decide to do rearsets. But again, not sure if my back could handle that, and being 6ft 2, Im not sure how that stance would feel for me. Thanks for the suggestions
