Hello everyone,
I am newly registered but Ive been looking at this forum for about the last six months. Have learned a lot from a lot of you guys already. I figured it was time to actually join. My name is Rodney and I am the owner of a 77 Yamaha XS400. I will get pictures up soon. I have been inspired by this site to do some cafe treatment to it! When that time comes, I hope ya'll don't mind questions! ;D
Welcome to DTT Rodney. The XS is a great little bike, and there are some insanely knowledgeable folks here that will answer whatever questions you may have. Looking forward to the pics!
Been a while but I finally have a pic to post. Had a lot more and better ones of only the bike but the girl at the phone store broke my SD card. Just in the riding and planning stage for now as to what I'm going to do to it. Soaking in a lot of ideas from here on DTT. I'm slowly getting the confidence to strip everything down to the frame and do a complete rebuild on everything but the motor.
Hi Rodney,
Nice 400 there! I've got a '77 360 and 400. The 360 is clean, stock and titled. The 400 is not...but it may be the one I ultimately build over time. I'm currently working on a seat...
Thank ya! As far as plans go, nothing too dramatic. I'm just planning on doing a complete dissassembly and powdercoating the frame and cleaning / painting the rest. I'm going to use this same seat as I have seen someone just lower the padding and re-upholster and it looked like it was meant to be that way. Don't really have a solid paint/theme layed out yet. I spend a lot of time looking at it and surfing around looking at cafe pics but yet still don't wanna copy anything. The engine is pretty solid with low miles so I'm just going to polish it up nice. Right now I'm just enjoying riding it when I can. Working long days would keep me from even starting on it yet anyway! As soon as I do there will be lots of progress pictures as well as a lot of "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS" pictures!

Thanks Jeff,
Man I like that seat build you have going! If I decide not to use my stock seat, I would be interested in something like that to continue the lines of the tank. I'm going to pay close attention to the rest of your build for sure!
