Screwed and Tattooed

Been Around the Block
I found my inspiration for the dohc cb750 , well first of all i was originally going to keep it stock and work out all the bugs and sell it to fund a xs650 or sportster hardtail project but I absolutely love this bikehttp://www.wrenchmonkees.com/cb750kz.html typically i dont like dohc 750's but im starting to see the potential . oh and i finally got it running well enough to take it for a quick spin around the block today , dont have a working front brake yet but its running smooth and pulls good , surprised on how well it does run since it has been sitting for so long , only things left to do is replace fork seals , waiting on the front brake parts and some new tires and its ready to roll

Yep - the wrench monkees do some of the finer work out there, and are inspiring me in my future SR500 build.

That settles it I'm painting my Comstars Black!
No wait, Silver
No No BLACK... yeah Black

Or maybe silver

Thats one Nice CB either way

wrenchmonkeys stuff is purley teriffic. maybe some of my favorite bike out there. go for it man!

The thing that I like about the W.Monkeys is that if you really look, they aren't doing anything really nuts to these bikes.
They take an otherwise fairly nondescript roller take a few things off, add a few key signature touches and simple paint.
It's minimalist brilliance in the wake of the OCC style(sic) blingfest.

I studied art for quite a while before (foolishly) going into electronics and had a brilliant professor of design gift me with something that stuck. "It's what's NOT there that counts".

+1 swagger! I agree, and I love the WM style, but nothing there is really amazing, in all honesty they just do simple really well. I am not doggin them at all, In fact their blog is a place I frequent daily along with the COC blog. I would say they are the biggest inspiration I have right now, they just do simple so well. Plus they are artists and photographers first, and they bring this understanding of what looks good to machines.

Ya Swagger... Right on. My favorite bikes of all time are the ones that look to most people like they shouldnt run. Like there isnt enough there to start em up. The WM guys nail that aesthetic. Pure class.

Swagger nails it again! I love how WM will leave a bit of patina. I'm doing that with mine as well. I reused a lot of the old hardware and didn't repaint everything. I want it to look clean for sure, but I like that it still looks old. WM's were a direct influence on that decision.

So u got a cb750 with a standard engine, standard frame and swingarm, standard forks, the bike went on a small diet, and got some eye-candy.Is that about it? Very nice looking, but what about performance and handling?cb's have always been good runners, but are not the best handling bikes around.why not a few mota tweaks and some handling upgrades to go with the eye candy?bj

Mainly money... WM bikes are pricey. Most of their full custom bikes run 25-30K US. That 750 was about a 12K US build... thats pretty expensive for what was done... Yeah the bike would be great with upgraded suspension, brakes and the works but it wasn't in the budget.

I really like that bike too. They have another one that is a Kawi that is similar with silver and black tank. I think I may be going that way with mine too. That style seat has been growing on me for a while.
