Holy Snap-Muffler fixed still bad

Just Went Throgh All The Wires And All Looks Good. Its Had Good Spark For 4 Months And When I Started To Finally Drive It On Thursday Something Must Have Went. I Think Im Going To Start At The Coil And Work Backwards Unless Theres A Better Idea?

I would check the coil for resistance and also check the voltage at the coil with the ignition switch on...I think it is the white/red wire off memory. On the KZ400's, the coil wire runs through the stock handlebar switches, and after time, corrosion causes poor connection and reduced voltage to the coil. You can disassemble the switches and clean the contacts or do the "coil mod" as discussed on the KZ400 forum. Basically it is a relay that bypasses the stock switches and gives full battery voltage to the coil when the switch is on.

Re: No Spark

Thanks regal, I'm getting the coil itself tested now. Then it's points and capacitor. I'm looking into the "coil Mod" too, any simplifying I can do the better. I also found a website where a guy is making reg/rec units as one.

Anybody try one of his units before?
Sonreir, maybe you want to move this thread to electrical, I would but I don't know how.
