Build thread of a honda 360 café.

Hi all! I'm Joris, from Belgium. I' ve been working on a honda cj 360
Since a couple of months now. I thought it would be great to post the build here and receive Some comments on the progress.

The base is a honda 360 , stripped down by the previous owner. I bought it for 200 dollar. So it was in boxes, only the exhaust and the front fork were missing.

Work so far:

- modified cb125 tank, with fuel cap of a cb350 tank. The original one is too big in my opinion)
- stripped frame
- Hagon chocks for the rear
- cagiva sp525 front fork, i picked this one as the length is the same as the original and the power and weight of the bikes are comparable.
- triple tree modified to fit the frame
- wider rim for the rear wheel (cb750)
- engine was partly rebuild by a honda mechanic 3000 km ago. The bike only has 38000 km. So I won't be changing anything to the engine. I will however rebuild the carbs. Any suggestions on how to tune them up a bit would be great.

Next steps:

- modify front hub to fit the fork. I only need to take a little of it and make Some bushes and a new shaft to line it up. My dad will help me with this as he works in a company that specializes in Cnc work.
- make a seat. Colleague of mine will help me make it out of polyester. Hopefully we can make it look like the seat on kott his red pearl. I will atempt to integrate the rear light into the seat.
- position the footpegs. I only have experience with a small 125cc bike so I won't be making it too extreme.

By then a few weeks/months will have passed. :D

Any suggestions are welcome, i see a lot of great builds here and a lot of knowledgeable people!

So the frame will have the last welding done to it by tomorrow.
i've chosen not to weld a loop on the back, but just fill the holes up with some metal.
also welded the plates to attach the rearsets.

pictures by the mid of this week. By then work on the seat (hopefully) has started ::)

I also picked up the Hagons from my friend. They work perfectly, but look a bit used
Does anybody know if powder coating on the springs will hold?

any ideas are welcome!

Powdercoated the springs on my opel Kadett C 6 years ago, still looks perfect ;)

Little update:

- I have to look for a new tank.. so any tips from the Netherlands or Belgium are welcome. my own tank is to rough due to the welding. :( so i'm waiting with the preparation of the seat untill i have a tank.
- The Hub for the front wheel is now being adapted to fit the front fork.
- the engine will be painted gloss black, so it will match the springs , frame and wheel a lot better.
- I also decided on the colour. It's a dark blue with lots of metallic particals in it. it's a left over from some Yamaha viragos my dad did a couple of years ago. So it's also cheap! ;D
- Wheel hoops, springs and some other little stuff are off to powder coat. I also painted the shocks myself and they look really good! (still drying). ::)

Hopefully by the end of next week i have a new tank and i can send the frame off to powder coat. My neighbour will do the last welding this weekend.. he couldn't finish it last time due to his holiday.

The main task will now be: make the parts to fit the hub, wheel and disk and brakes to the front fork.. ??? hopefully that will go well!

any tips and tricks are always welcome. i'm not experienced at all and would love to have some tips from the experienced builders that are part of this group!

Update: Had a sweet deal today. Picked up the following things for 100 euro:

Cb360 tank
Gsxr 320mm front disk
Supertrap exhaust
Products to remove rust and seal the tank
One new tire ( for my BMW 650)
Wider front rim

I also started a course in welding .

Does anybody know where i can find the first part of an exhaust ( the manifold) ?

Thanks and Will update soon!
