hi my names matt i live in sheffield and this is my first bike....
it started out life as a 1981 honda cb125 t2
not all was right with the engine in the bike it was smoking pretty badly from the right cylinder, so i stripped the engine and swapped out the barrels pistons and gaskets for a big bore 150cc kit. i some how managed to put all back together but with the time 180 out doh ! so i rectified that problem and she start first go.
my origional idea was to keep the bike as stock as i could but just tidy it up, this idea soon went out the window when i found a new honda dream 50 replica tank on ebay for £50 which could pass up. so starts the cafe project.
the tank is far longer than the standard and i had to relocate the fixing points, this tank also has a belt ridge in it so i had to come up with some way of incorporating this too. i attached two plates either side where the standard front tank mounts are, then put a bolt through the top of them so that i could wrap a press stud belt around. the new tank then sat on top of the old rubber mounts belt goes across the top and bolted down on to the rear mount (which was made from the battery tray mounting point)
tank on and premiered
with the tank on i had to devise a way to sit on the bike i had a rear loop made up, only problem was i have no welder and i need to bike for work. so i made a temporary seat up using some mdf race seat foam and leather on didn't take long to make up apart from being a bit square look ok. painted the tank and front mudguard, feeling happy with the bike
i thought it was nearly over just the seat to do but then i found another ebay steel, a set of cbr125 replica usd forks which actually come of a skytem sj125.
everything to my astonishment bolted straight on to my bike , even the disc rotor fitted onto my wheel !
another ebay find a two into one straight through exhaust, required some carb jetting actually a lot of re-jetting i went from a 88 to a 110 jet size. also new rear shocks and a bit of fresh paint on the rear wheel.
so this is where i am to date, still loads to do the list is endless haha
thanks for looking
