Honda CBX 750 F brat ish

I believe that what XB33bsa means to say is that he is more than willing to answer your questions and guide you gently through this troubling situation. The constructive advise is surely just about to occur. I spent too much time learning civility, and not enough wrenching. You will need someone who may have skipped those classes but does understand shock lengths, spring rates, linkages, etc. Best of luck with this project, those are certainly a handsome bike with a beautiful engine.

Hi XB33bsa. Definitely dont wanna kill myself due to the lack of knowledge. Thats the reason i shout out for advise in this forum.

appreciate your comments and look forward to learn more from your experience and knowledge.
These are the numbers i managed to get before i installed the shocks

1. Original Honda PROLINK
Shock length (eye to clevis) - 315mm (measured. couldnt get details from research)
Rear suspension travel - 115mm

2. Yamaha YZF R6 2003 Monoshock
Shock length (eye to clevis) - 300mm
Rear suspension travel - 120mm

The above are the info I gathered prior to trying out the R6 shock. With the temporary clevis extension, i added 15mm to the length of the R6 to match the original shocks. Will machine out a proper clevis for the shock if this works out.

surely you compared the travel of the shocks, the spring rates, and length eye to eye ?
if you did not, put the wrenches down stop working on the bike and take the bus
just bolting on stuff like that without any knowledge is stupid and a good way to get yourself killed

i'm feeling your pain.

The bike is kicking... The cbx really do make a great base model...I bought mine a few years ago as a mule to keep my insurance record running between main bikes...but fell in love with in, just started a rebuild mod programme, and looking to clear the rear triangle, just wondering if you could post some pictures of your electrics to show how and where you have hidden them, also how does it run with POD air filters have heard people have had issues in getting ride of the airbox..

Any advice welcome, and good effort...

Danny

bike is running well....nevertheless i have to say it is better with the stock airbox...cant really outengineer the HONDA fellas. It runs just fine except slight loss of power at higher altitudes. Need to rejet the carbs though with larger main jets and alll..
