Honda CL 350 1969 Build, Teardown and questions

Hey there all. I am tearing down a 1969 CL 350 Honda. Most of it was in boxes when I got it from a friend. I am tearing it down to the frame. I am not going to do a frame off restoration but want to clean it up and either cafe it or do a brat style. I have not decide yet. My questions are as follows; I am tyring to get the swing arm off. I got one of the nuts off where the rear sets are but the other side is stuck and just spins when I try to loosen it. I have discovered that they are not independent. Any help would be great. Pics below. I am going to have the frame powder coated. I am here in Fort Worth Texas BTW. Thanks in advance.

It is probably seized up with decades old grease, try tapping it lightly with a mallet while turning it to break it free.
Also you picked up a 350 there. Still a great bike!

Cool man thanks for the link! I was going to make that my next move but wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. I thought so too about the CL 350 but on the neck it say CL-360. Besides engine displacement is there a difference when it comes to hunting down parts? Could this pose a problem? I will look at the engine in the morning to see it has any indicator numbers. Thanks again. Will post up more as I move along.

Holy crap I just looked at yours 2.3efi That is freakin awsome looking! I will need your home phone number to bug you with many questions. I dig that skid guard too! Can't say enough about how cool that is.

I just went and looked at the numbers again. You are totally right it is a 350! They are so old it looked like it said 360. Thanks. Headed in the right direction now.

Gently tap the other side to remove it like you would a bolt. That will get the swingarm free.

I use a socket on the swingarm bolt and tap it out, that way you don't damage the grease nipple.

I din't get a chance to try to get the swing arm off. It was meet the teacher night at my daughters school. So tomorrow night I will be back at it and with pics. I know for a fact that this project did not come with carbs and the wiring harnes needs to be replaced. I also want to put on a big set of fat meaty tires on it. Any suggestions there? I have been collecting pics and really dig some of these builds.......

I really HOPE this post title is a typo. That is NOT a 360 frame. AND hopefully the boxes it came in contain a 350 engine.

Yes it was a mistake on my part. I had written that in an earlier post. The thing was sold old and mucked up I thought it read 360. It is a 350 you are correct. The true adventure begins when I start to open up some of those boxes and see what is in them. If you know how to change the Thread topic line let me know and I will remedy this.

Chrome is for show offs and baggers. Ha. Never been a fan of the shinny bits. Got a chance to scotch brite some parts today.

Tank choices! One is a CB200 Tank I have had for several years. The other is the stock.

Oh and if anyone know if you can get a full wiring set up let me know. The whole system is crap and I need carbs too. Thanks!

I traded all of the chrome parts on my CL350 for ratty pitted ones and even added some rust to other bits. When it's done it's going to be the ugliest thing still rolling.

I stay over in Dallas for now. Maybe we can help eachother out.

L&L Cycle here has one or two of the carbs. He usually sells about $50-60 dollars a piece but they'll need work and of course diaphragms. If you basically want carb bodies with jets, I can go down and have Tony hold 'em for you. I just have to dig through HEAPS of carbs to find 'em if they're still there.

I also have a few odd bits here if you need anything else. Still building my CL.

I'd like to see that long 200 tank on there. If you make that work, I'd really be interested in that small K1 tank.

Finally, Sonreir is the fella to talk to about wiring. His prices are more than fair and he can wire something up to make the exhausts put out the opening drum solo to Hot for Teacher if you want. OK maybe that's an exaggeration...maybe ???

That is by far the best exhaust sound discription I have ever heard! Yeah man by all means we can help each other out. Thanks for the info. I forgot about L&L good idea. I am in the Fort Worth area for now. Fee free to email me as well. I will post more pics later tonight!
