Honda CL360 Seat Options with Stock Tank

Hey guys, I just picked up a 1975 Honda CL360 for my first motorcycle/cafe project for the winter and I have a few questions about what will work with this bike. I have been looking around this site and others for ideas and I think I want to go with a cafe/brat style seat but my issue is finding something that works with the stock tank. From what I have seen on most sites the cafe seats tend to just but up to the tank and with the stock tank on this bike there is a gap/hole at the end of the tank.

See this tank for reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-COLOR-VINTAGE-HONDA-CL360-GAS-TANK-1974-MUSCAT-GREEN-/130955478053

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or seats that have worked with this bike in the past? I was thinking about modifying the stock seat and cutting out some foam and re-upholstering it to get the look I am going for if I cannot find anything.

What style seat should I be searching for that overlaps the back of the tank?

Thanks for your help.

Well, you can go the route of modding your current seat.

You can also find a seat that you like, and add some fiberglass to the front that will cover the gap at the tank.

Check out some builds around here and you should be able to find some inspiration.

Thanks, that is what I am thinking about doing. I think it is probably easiest to modify the stock seat to get what I want so I am planning on going down that avenue.

I'm using a cl450 tank on my cb750. My seat does not cover the tang leaving it exposed. Doesn't look too bad since its a brat build.

Running into a similar issue on mine. Deciding whether to fill the gap on the tank or to section the rear tang and lower the back of the tank. Or, a combination of both. But my build may be a little different than yours ;)
