Honda CM400/450 carb upgrade Keihin into Mikuni??

I've got a Honda CM400 (project: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=68402.0).

The flow of the head is optimized and we fitted a 450 cylinder. The original carbs (and intake) are 36 mm Keihin. The Mikuni VM30 and VM32 are used as a upgrade for the CM/CB 400 / 450 (i've got two VM30's). The difference between the carbs 30+mm and the intake 36+ is huge. This could result in pour flow/gas handling. I believe the 34 or 36 mm Mikuni's are overkill for the CM400/450. But I'm not sure.

Some tell me to use the VM30. Others to buy the VM36's and build a special exhaust.

Can anyone help me with this issue? What is the best option?
