Honda Coil Repair

coil as in ignition coil?

if its the original for the 70s, ditch it for a new set. If you can't afford dyna, mikes XS xs650 coils are 12V and produce a damn good spark. old coils wear out; a new ignition will do wonders for your bike.

now, in response to your original inquiry, it can be done, but its not worth the time.

There is a write up somewhere if not hear than sohc4 site but i have always replaced 4 cylinder honda molded lead coils with mid 80 ninja 600 coil. honda twin get ninja 250 coils they have replaceable leads and there like fifty years newer and pretty cheep on ebay sorry about dancing around your question but ive had alot of luck with the swap and the wiring is pretty straight forward

Thanks for the info Rocan, bradj. Mine are fine but I keep seeing that Tonners are swapping them out for this and that. It looks like it would be easy to replace the lead if the coil itself is still good and then have an almost-good-as-new coil that fits without mods.

Inquiring minds want to know...
