honda front brakes

Been Around the Block
hey all
I need to change the front brake setup on my 84 xl350r. theres nothing mechanically wrong with the current setup, but for legal and aesthetics I want tp change the master Cylinder and line.

its a simple single disc with a braided line to brake caliper. looks like a stock nissin caliper from that era.

I want a black master Cylinder with a round reservoir. also the brake line I need to go back to an oem rubber type cause braided isnt legal in australia.

any suggestions into models and years I should look into? I found a sweet master cyclinder from early 80s cb750 but would that be too big?

Braided is not legal? Serious? Hahahah braided is better than rubber, but whatever, rubber might be better when its upside down ;) But eh, any master will do. A Brembo goldline (in black of course) from a ducati monster or similar will stop on a dime.

Pretty sure braided is allowed here in Oz, KTM's come with braided lines as standard. You just need to make sure they are DOT approved.

You can get them from a few places including HEL Performance.

A TUV (European cert. similar to a DOT cert in the US) certification should make them legal worldwide.

well mines got a hel "dot" apprpved line at the moment and it did not meet the testers requirments at RWC.
being oem equipment on your ktm is the key to why thats legal.

So get a KTM line then!

I'm confused that its ok to run it on a fast bike like a KTM, but on a slow bike like oldtimers it needs to be rubber. Bullshit.

yeah honestly for me to go into how retarded the australian design rules are, id be here all day.

upon further reading braided lines need to be crimped, not screw in fittings, clear sheath and have the relevant australian standards number printed on the sheath. that last one is i think where the hiccup is.

so for cost and fuckin around, im just going to slap a standard rubber hose onto it and be done. would something like a XR line go on without a problem? im assuming 99% of hondas use the same banjo size?
