hello guys, well i have been on here lurking and watching and i started chopping my bike, had alot of fun and learned alot. got it looking like this and was happy with it:

then the tank got a crack in it... i went to the junkyard a found a decent tank:

and then my friend saw a seat and said that since i like the twisties we should change my bike up a bit, soo here is the results of this weekend:

and where we reached our stopping point:

next weekent the plan is to tuck up all the wiring, make a cover to fill the gap between seat and frame, and do rearsets and 2into1 exaust.

weekend update time. IT's RIDABLE!!!
ill start with the big project of the weekend. finnished exhaust.
used all the stock pieces, just flipped the pipes from side to side, added a short length of strait and a bend cut from original setup, then made collector(only piece not from original setup) then the muffler has been flipped, sectoned out and welded back together.

and in its ridable view. sans the tail light and license plate which i forgot to snap a pic of.

it really is starting to look like a proper honda rebel cafe.

I like your idea of building a cafe from a rebel. I'm currently doing something like that myself, although it might become a tracker or something. Still not sure.
But that heap of space you've got now between the seat and the original frame looks ridiculous.. I'm not sure a cover of some sorts is gonna fix that..

that is going to have a cover of either brass or aluminum. i wont know until i decide on paint color.

I understand you're going to cover that, but I'm not sure if that's gonna make it look any better.. Really like your rearsets though and the exhaust as well.

Puts me to thinking of a giant Honda monkey bike - I bet that's a lot of fun.

I agree that it would look more finished with the seat rails dealt with somehow, and that it may be tough to do - let us know what you come up with.

Dude, exactly what I was thinking.

Mine is still my favorite bike.

Definitely in my wish list!

And OP, that was not meant as a dig. I like what you're doing. Not a lot of cool Rebels out there.

Rich, if you were local I would let you have a go on my Z160A. It is nuts. 70mph on 8inch tyres.

Matt(?) I dig the seat. It does make it look like a Honda Z50A. I quite like the seat sitting higher than the bars. Might just be because I grew up on one. Keen to see more though.

hey everyone. sorry its taken soo long to post a pic. but the bike has been a blast to ride. i did maye a cover and snapped a pic at lunch today. here she is:

ill be trying to update some more pictures now. and as everything gets prepped for paint. i like that monkey bike. i have a taco 22 and now i want to build that up..

Have you thought about lowering the front at all? I think that might help to level it out a bit and even the balance. Just thinking out loud, I dig what you're doing.

Needs 18" wheels.

the frame is the issue. it drops down a lot at the back. longer shocks would help greatly and bring the front end back (as a vaguely general rule every inch you move one end gives a 1 degree change in steering head angle), which would certainly help it turn.

but the bottom frame rail is already angling up, and if you raise the back too much the motor will be rotating forward and the swingarm dropping, increasing the chain pull over the swingarm. I haven't seen a frame that seems that dropped at the rear in these sort of Hondas. the change needed would be quite extreme. wheel sizes would help, but it might still look a bit odd.

correct. thats the tallest i can go with the shock before i need to modify the frame for the chain to clear. i am working on a chain tensioner to clear the frame a bit more, but even then i dont want to put too much force on that by lifting rear more. im actually searching for a decent 17 inch wheel for the back. but i need to look into how it will fit the hub and everything. havent researched it, but im assuming you just need to match the spoke count. and the reason for 17 inch is i will have every tire available to me. 18s are getting harder to find.

welll, updates.... i got cut off and bike is severly dammaged, But i have bought the nessisary parts to repair it, and improve some little things that were bugging me, i also bought a second vehicle, so now this thing has a chance of being finnished.
accident pics:

accident happened in end of jan, so i am close to full recovery now.
