Honda Speedometer mods

dentedvw

Is there any way to get the speedo shut again after opening it up? I had one from one of my bikes that was badly dented, glass scratched, etched, basically a real POS.
So I opened it up, played with it, cleaned it up a bit to see if I could.
Having done that, it appears there is no way to get it shut again easily, as I had to cut the band that held it together.

Thoughts?

I was thinking it would be neat to have some different faces to use on these, but maybe that won't pan out, as my skills are very poor in that regard.

What year and model?

If you cut the band instead of prying it off, you must glue it back on. Use JB weld or similar epoxy and a large diameter hose clamp. Clamp the top and bottom halves of your gauge together firmly, not too tight with a clamp and a caul to protect the glass. Fill you cut band with epoxy, place in position, tighten the hose clamp on the outside of the band, clean up excess epoxy and let dry.

I thinkt what you need is the type of clamp that come with those chrome cosmetic speedo housings. They sell on eBay etc. for different models.
