Honda turn signals question

On a '74 honda, are all four turn signals required for them to work? I'd prefer to just run rears, but am having trouble getting anything to work.

Oh.... and if they ARE meant to only work with all four installed, is there any simple way to re-wire so that just the rears can be used?

You will need a different flasher relay. The original is made to blink from the load of 4 signals. Any auto parts store should sell a "no/low load" relay.
