Hey there, since google directed me to this forum a lot of times I figured I might as well get an account here.
My name is Bart and I am a student from Holland. I've always been into cars, mopeds and bikes. Last year I got my license and because of some european rules I'm only allowed to ride a 125cc. With some luck I got this XL125s for cheap and now I'm planning on riding it and modding it.
Some pics of when I just got her.
Small shoot I did
So let me explain my plans for the thing. I really fell in love with the whole tracker, brat bike classic look. Builders like Deus and Wrenchmonkees really inspire me so that's the direction I hope my bike will head. This build will not be a fast one although I am picking up pace lately.
Since the original seat is missing and hard to get over here I had a friend make a bamboo seatpan. I didn't want it to be metal because that makes it a lot harder to upholster. I'm also test fitting a cb350f rear fender. Still not sure if I like it and I think the frame needs to be a bit shorter as well.
I didn't like the aircleaner box so I got me a new filter. That said I also needed a place to put the battery so with the help of a friend we made one. The biggest reason for me not speeding up on this build is the lack of tools like a welder, the material and a nice garage to work in. I did a quick once over with some paint on the box. Not the best looking but it's cold outside so painting isnt gonna be the best anyway. Will be resprayed once I have the bike in the shape I want it to be in.
Since the chrome on the handlebars was far gone I installed a new one. Also got me another light switch because the Honda one is way t bulky and had a blinker switch that I won't use. The bar end mirror isn't installing so the tape is holding it to see what it looks like. Might have to weld a nut in the bars to hold the thing.
Next thing will hopefully be 18inch front rim and I already have some new tires on the way.
That's pretty much it for now. I do have some questions and since there's quite some 125 honda builds here I hope someone can help me.
Questions
- I got the new airfilter. I'm currently running a size 90 main jet. How much must I jet up for it to run better?
- Planning on building a different exhaust. Anything I need to look out for regarding dimensions and stuff?
update 08-20-2014
After a very long period of not working on the bike. The engine failing because I accidentally stuffed the oil hole in the head with liquid gasket, I now have some new parts
installed on the engine so that should work fine now. It's waiting for the frame and it should be properly tuned and ready to go.
small picture of the proces
and today I finally finished welding the frame. I don't have a welder and no transport to take it to a welder. Now a friend of mine who has a shop 10 or 15 minutes by foot from here
had some time so I walked the frame there and we welded it.
So with all of that out of the way I should be able to finish most of it in a few weeks so I can get it on the road atleast. The plan for a 18inch front wheel will have to wait for later. I want to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. Haven't driven since februari

I've been working on the bike a lot lately, I'm very close to firing it up.
The frame has been painted, some of the engine covers are painted aswell and just all sorts of random jobs
that needed to be done. I hope to drive it early next week.

Went to a friend of mine who repairs windsurfing gear and kites and also does some jobs at local beach clubs and stuff. He wanted to try to apolster my seat for the Honda.
I came to his place thinking I would drop it all off and hope to get it back in a few weeks or so. But he started right away and almost finished within 2 hours or so. Very nice for a first try
not perfect but it will definitely do for now and maybe for ever
