How big are your bar-end directionals?

I just received my bar-end mirrors and while looking them over, I had a clever idea. They consist of three main parts each: The mirror with a ball-end, a clamp, and the bar insert. The bar-insert part can be removed from the clamp and happens to be just shy of 7/8 of an inch. My idea is to find a set of directionals that are 7/8 and clamp the mirror to them but I haven't found a set online that has the diameter listed. Do any of you guys have a set that are flush with the 7/8 handlebar? The set from Dime City are about 1/8 too big and I could make them work but I was hoping for a simpler solution (not sure how I feel about putting them in a lathe).

Those are kinda cool but they look like there wouldn't be much to clamp to, if anything.

Oberon Performance makes something similar to what you are thinking. You can use the bar-end indicators by themselves or you can add an extension piece that allows you to fit a clamp on mirror.
