Now then folks please excuse my British brash I am very new to DTT. That of course is no excuse, but ensuring my quality of ride is well worth it.

I live in Derbyshire one of the UK'S best motorcycle counties that still have a small twist in tbe road. I hope to build a cb350 inspired by the French sake racer?

now after a small amount of research my results are poor to say the least. I get loads of "my buddy said" "I heard this"

What I want it "I ride/rode them" answers.

I have short arms amd deep pockets so can only aford to buy once.

thanks for reading

They are not really motorcycle tyres. By that I mean that they were designed in about 1900 and that's about where they are. Why in the name of all things sacred, would anyone in the UK, home of Avon and the TT100 be looking at clown shoes?

OK so stepping away from the dramatic for a moment. Coker/firestones are an old design and even if they used modern carcass and compounds, they do not provide any reasonable handling or grip. If you want Classic looks, try K70 Dunlops or Avon Safetymileage/Speedmaster. Going up from there are many options including Bridgestone BT45, Avon AM26 roadriders and a few others.

All you have between you and the road are a couple of square inches of rubber. Make it good rubber. Even if you don't think you plan of riding fast, teh day will come when you are riding home and it rains and then you'll see what people are saying about lack of grip.

One of the members here, Trek, decided to go with Firestones. He changed to something else within a couple of months.

A friend of mine rode on them from Toronto to LA and back in 9 days. He made it, but there are better performing tires on the market to be sure.

I'm likely getting a set of the whitewalls for my 1966 Honda CA95 because they're the only whitewalls in the size I need (325-16) and the bike lives in my home office, indoors.

For restorations, hot-rods etc. they're fine. If you're going to put your life on the line, buy some AVON Road Riders. Nobody can see the tread of your tires while you're doing the ton on the backroads.

I'm so glad I asked this question. Thanks for the input gents.

I will be looking into something that doesn't want to spit me off into a hedge.

I would still like a classics style if possible. Probably too much to ask though.

When it comes to tires, style is for show bikes. In the real world, actual performance is what matters.
