Thanks for reading and any help would be much appreciated.

Engine: '76 Honda CB750
Problem: oil seals stuck, corroded

How do I get these out without tearing up the aluminium? I've tried soaking in brake & carb cleaner, heating, etc. Can't get the buggers out.

I got most of it out, but there is still lots left around the lip and inside.

Can you get a pair of Vise Grips onto the metal part of the seal? If so, grab and twist. You should be able to distort the seal enough to get it out.

Needle nose vice grips are the best for tight spaces.

if your wife/domestic partner/roommate is an understanding soul, clean them up the best you can and stick 'em in the oven for a bit.

I used a curved pick to get stubborn rubber seals. Always super careful not to gouge anything. I swear a piece of wood can gouge the metal on my cl360 engine.

Oven idea is actually good too. Any parts I put in the oven I clean as much as I could and didn't have an issue with odor or anything.

Put your parts in the dishwasher first, then you can oven bake them without the burning oil smell.

Of course, you need at least a 2 hour window where the wife is out……I've never done this, of course…... ::)

Whoot! Great advice and great timing fellas - the wife and kids have gone down south for a week. What she don't know won't hurt her.

Will post up some pics once they're cooked.

Cheers
