how do I get these CB750 carbs back into the rubber manifolds????? (on the air side) I have pushed them and levered them with piece of wood, nothing is getting them in there far enough.

Im going to try greasing them up next.

help, any ideas

Can you slightly loosen the bolts that attach the boots to the bike? Many bikes have tight fits around there, and you might not be able to retighten them after you've muscled your carbs in. This might enable you to get your carbs and boots aligned a bit better. Are you certain your rubber boots are all in the right location? My bike has left and right boots, and it makes a big difference if they're not in the right spot. Just a shot in the dark, hope this helps a bit.

What year 750 do you have? What year bike are the boots from (or are they the original boots)? What year bike are the carbs from (or are they the original carbs?). I'm thinking you might be using different year parts, and the earlier 750 carb mounts are smaller than the later parts.

However, if all is original, and you are finding the rubber boots are not pliable enough (hard as a rock from age) to stretch around the carb mounts, heat up the rubber with a heat gun, then slip carbs in.

The boots on my 72 XS650 are from a later model because the earlier ones are NLA and yes they are a bitch to get in the carbs, so I just use a bit of grease and a heat gun to barely soften the rubber.

If your boots are so hard that you can't get the carbs into them you might consider buying new boots. In my experience once they get that hard it's only a short matter of time before they start to crack and leak, which leads to all the ill effects on how the bike runs. Just my $.02
