How do I mount the seat?

Got the Roc City Interceptor seat, though I don't want it to sit flush on the rails because it will cover the side panels.
How do I mount it raised, and still support about 240 pounds

I'm wondering if I shouldn't take an inch off the bottom.....

I'm thinking about making the seat shorter too.

email sent - shorter probably isn't necessary for comfort, comfort comes from having the rearsets at proper height and distance from handlebars, and dimension relative to your hips, as well as handlebar placement. shortening the seat may just limit your options... from what I'm looking at, your pegs will probably want to come back about 4-6", bars will probably want to be either at the top of the fork under the tree, or superbike bars mounted on the top tree.

I was looking to get the same seat for my 450, how did you end up mounting it

Now sure if this will help but this is the way I mounted my seat. The wood will be replaced
with same thickness of solid rubber.
