How do you attach a seat cover if the tabs are broken?

Does anyone have any ideas for attaching a seat cover when most of the tabs on the seat pan are broken?
Thanks,
Jon

or if you want to be able to remove it, Rivets work well. Just drill holes around the edge then use a sharp pointed tool, stretch the cover to where it should be, poke a hole in cover at rivet hole, the put rivet in and pop working your way around. If you need to remove it later, drill rivet out and you are GTG.

Like Mikey said, rivets.

Pop rivets indeed. Its better to use washers between the rivets and fabric to prevent tearing.
Start in the middle of the back and do the round part first. Then the front and then the sides

I've seen these repair tab devices on ebay quite frequently

Fasten them to the seat pan to replace the broken off OEM tabs, stretch the cover over the points and bend back.

Self-tapping countersunk stainless screws and flanged countersunk washers. Or hot glue.

Depends on the seat. My Husqvarna with a steel seat pan is only ever glued on. I like 3M yellow super weather stripping adhesive. Binder clips do a pretty good job of holding it until its dry. I have used stainless steel pop rivets with stainless washers on both sides. On my latest CB750 I used a thin strip of stainless steel held in place with 5mm stainless screws, washers and nylock nuts on the inside. Glue it, then screw it and it will be plenty secure.

Its far from perfect, but then this is an old seat cover/seat I just have on until I finish my solo seat set up.

Thank you everyone for your input!! On the outward facing side of the rivets can I still attach the chrome trim? (its a 73 cb450)

Not sure what you mean. Do you have a pic?

Also, I used a lot more rivets than what is in that pic. Those were just the start.

Hmmmm, not sure rivets would be the best choice in that application. You would have little bumps in your cover all around the bottom of the seat from the protrusion of the rivets since they would be sticking out to the side.

Maybe those repair tab things mentioned would be better. Could rivet those on but from the outside in so the rivet doesn't stick out of the side.
