How do you guys (safely) heat your garage?

Interesting to re-read this thread after all these months. I moved to a much larger shop that is poorly insulated. I spent well over $1,000 on electricity over this winter for the shop to be 50-55F. Kinda sucks. I keep eyeing wood lying around along the roads, wishing I had a wood stove in my shop. I desperately need to insulate my shop better, and put in some sort of heating system. Winter wasn't very cold, but it sucked. Summer will be desperately hot, and I have to air condition that hot box.

My wife bought me insulated overalls - i sold my kerosene heater :)

I use a "nipco" kerosene/ diesel heater I fill it with 4.5 gallon diesel and .5 gallon gas and it cuts down on the smell and fumes a lot . Very easy and warms my whole shop up.in a jif . A full tank will last me twenty hours or more depends how many times I turn it off from being to warm . Although next year I will invest in a natural gas furnace as the garage is plumbed already for it

Got a high efficiency LP furnace. Son in law worked at a sheetmetal shop and made up the ductwork. I leave the temp at 45deg, and bump it up when I go in there.
