I'm getting ready to mount a CB450 tank to a CL350 frame. I'm just curious how everyones do it. Do you just cut the bracket and remount it to the frame? Make a new mount? Any help would be appreciated. This is my last mock up before tear down for paint. Thanks!
I'd say make some kind of extended mounting strap for the rear. Bolt it to the tank, then mark it for the frame mount. Drill the hole out, and bolt it to the frame.
I am going through the same dilema. I am thinkin on doing a cb550 tank on my cl350 frame. Im worried it may be too big[the tank] even if I adapt a extended bracket to mount it. Its getting harder to find dent free tanks anymore.
Delete all the stock mounts off the frame. Make new ones that match your desired tank. Trying to figure out how to utilize whats there is a mutha, and not worth the time.
Louie - You are correct. I just fabbed my own out of 1/8 steel to fit the back of the tank. I'll add some rubber to the base and us a bolt and washer to hold it in place. I agree trying to us the factory mount would have been a mutha!
