i did a search and didnt come up with a thread about how to mount a fiberglass seat to the rails. how have some of you mounted them? drill a couple of holes and bolt or screw it down, what other ways has it been done? some pixs on how they are mounted would be helpful also.

Here the seat I'm using on my R75/7

The tooth in the front slips into the backbone under the tank and the rear has a bracket that bolts into the small tube that is welded onto the rear of the seat frame... all stock!

Available at http://www.caferace.com Not cheap... but it bolts right on.

I made a flat seat "base" outta almu. and rivited it to the frame on my CB450 --->

Better pic of the tray I made for the battery to sit on --->

Then I built-up the inside of the seat with hardened plywood and put some industrial velcro to hold it down--->

Works really really well, as once I sit on that thing It takes a bit of strength to get the seat off..

No need to re-invent the wheel if you dont have too.. ;D

Mine is a thin, very light cafe seat--maybe 1/8th or 1/4 the weight of some. Mine's pretty different than others because I won't use a sub-structure to get the seat to attach. To get mine to stay on the rails, I will use very heavy, industrial velcro.

hmmmmm.. yeah.. I dont think Id use HD velcro to hold down the seat pan to the frame. It UR gonna do that, I'd also drill a few holes and use some zip-ties...

Velcro would be just fine. If you're putting so much lateral force on the seat to dislodge the velcro, you're toast anyhow.

Ask ProTeal - it's exactly what he describes in his post above.
