How old were you when you first did the "Ton"

5 years ago I was 34 on my now again running 1973 tx650. to fast for me I like my rides like my women long and slow. you should enjoy life. besides there are to many idiots out there that would cut you off in a new york minute if your not watching

16 (56 years ago) on a 601 Zundapp for the first time. Last time was last week on a 1982 KZ1000. Whoopee.bj

27 years old on a 1979 Suzuki GS1000S. It had a post sticking up on the speedometer dial at 85 mph and it would do that in third gear. In 5th I lost my nerve about 7500 RPMs. In truth, I have no idea exactly how fast I was going but a very rough calculation is 111 MPH. Probably 50% of the time I had no idea how fast I was going because of that stupid post on the speedo dial.

16 years old. When most people bought their first crappy car, I went out and bought an FZR400. Honestly, after I first realized I breached 100mph, I was a lil' freaked out and didn't touch the bike for a few days lolz!

What I wanna know is if anyone has ever hit the double ton???? That was always my goal (and still is in the back of my mind) when I was young. I did the ton when I was 16 on my 1999 CBR600f4 and have been above a ton and half more times than I can count (on two and four wheels). Shit, I went down on the road @ 105, thanks to speed wobble, on my CBR900rr.

But seriously, is there anyone here who has hit the double ton or gone over? I would like to here how that felt. Hopefully get there one day.

I think this all stems back to the "Speeder Bike" chase seen in Return of the Jedi. Thanks a lot George Lucas!

I only know of one person to hit a double ton on the street that was verified. I've had a ZX12R and a CBR1000rr that were both limited to 186. I know a gentleman that bought a zx14. He bought the electronic modifier that allowed it to go past 185. There was a few other mods but nothing radical. He brought his gps into the bike shop and showed the owner that it topped 200 by a fraction. Right conditions, open space, no traffic, and it took several runs on the same road to do it. This guy is 5'7" and weighs around 150 so the aerodynamics were a plus. I find it amazing that you can buy something that will do that and not cost alot. I ran a fuel dragster for 2 decades and it wasn't easy or cheap.

John Noonan crashed at the Mojave Mile a couple of weeks ago. This came off his bike after the crash.

He was riding this. A 1600cc turbo'ed Hayabusa.

But no one is buying it.

Now days (married, have a kid on the way), I would have to try it in a controlled setting. I would still love to do it though. Back when I was a full idiot (now just partial) I had a good stretch of interstate about 15 mins from my house. It was great conditions for high speed runs. Everybody would go there to test the top ends of their cars, bikes, whatever. I won't say how fast I've gone there, because now as a just partial idiot, I would not encourage that dangerous sort of behavior on the street.

It's all relative though. I'm building a 360 and I would be totally stoked if I could get it to the ton.

Last wednesday. So 19.

Travelling back from school on my bike at midnight, pulled up next to a trailer with a brand new Ford GT on the back. It got me all excited, so after riding next to it for a few miles, I felt the need for speed, so to speak. Fun stuff

three weeks after turning 16 and getting my permit, the local mechanic let me take his cbr1000 for a "ride down the highway"

lets just say I saw the ton, soon after the front wheel came down, and before I got myself killed I closed the throttle and gave it back to the owner.

since then I've only hit the ton one other time, last week on my fathers Honda shadow... god damn it took a good minute to get from 80-100, but with a slight tailwind, she did it. first time over 100 was in a porsche boxster S when I was 10, my uncle driving. we hit 135 then got pulled over xD. First time with me driving, 15 years old in the same uncles LS400 (Now mine!)... man that car is smooth.

Damn you all with your long open roads. All I've got is crappy short bits of highway and inner city stuff to ride :( OH and lots of speed traps...

First ton on the bike happened when I was 18 on my Dad's Versys... he disappeared through a hole in the traffic, and I figured I'd better catch up... He wasn't so happy when I blew past him at 115 ;) .

First ton I ever drove was at 16... First car, late to school, I hit 115 according to the speedo, the car shook so bad I didn't get the guts to do it again for a month or two.

First ever ton was with my mother in our Toyota Previa... I was all of about 10. My little brother asked what 100 felt like. Mom looked down the road, and hit the gas ::) .
