How thin can I run my tires? Rim size concern.

Hey everyone,

I know the 'right' answer to this question is 'don't be stupid buy wider tires, or thinner rims' but I thought I would throw it out there and see if anyway has any other solutions to my concern.

Tire fits on rim but 'shoulder' of rim is slightly wider that tire.

Rim width. ~60mm Yes I know I am holding the caliper a little crooked. You get the idea. Inside lip of rim to opposite lip is 43mm.

Tire width. ~51mm.

Appreciate the advice. I got the tires cheap, so I am most likely to just buy wider tires instead of new rims but thought I'd ask if anyone has any experience with very thin tires.

Many thanks,

43mm is more or less 1.60" so you have a WM1 rim and that takes a 80/90 tire. What size is the tire in the picture? Don't worry about how wide or skinny a tire is when it's not inflated.

What is that rim from? On my cb175 I ran a bridgestone tire that was made for the honda team and carries a honda part #. I believe it is an 80/80

The rim is an 18 inch from a 1974 Kawasaki G4TR 100cc.

The tire is advertised as 18 X 2.25.

Thanks for the input guys

Thanks guys,

Big Rich sent me a list and it seems this set up will work, but it is just on the borderline as I would expect.

Appreciate the help!
