How to hotwire ignition?

Yes, I just adjusted the points, I have spark, fuel is good. Could the timing be affecting it?

The timing shouldn't be adjustable - it should have a set key on the flywheel to locate it.

But.....if the key is missing and the flywheel has spun....

If it will run on that you more than likely have a fuel issue.

Hillsy makes a good point about the flywheel as well.

The key is good, just put a new one on earlier. The points plate has 3 screws holding it to the casing..I was told that if you turn the points plate either left or right it adjusts the timing, could be false information.

I am not sure if this correct, but if I have both magneto wires connected to the ignition coil, shouldn't this be all I need to bench test the motor?
