i bought a legendary fiberglass tank for my 78 cb750 , does anyone have any info on how to mount the tank, picture would be a great help, any help would be much appreciated
Fitted a glass tank on my 550 frame made front bung mounts like original tanks and fibreglassed to tank used some thin foam strip down the frame spine used the original rubber seat for the back of tank then rubber tank straps to hold in place hope this gives ya some ideas mate
Is it ok to glass over gelcoat like this? I've got a similar task to accomplish.... I need to make and attach a tab or bracket to a fiberglass tank, so I can mount it on a cb350 with the stock rubber mount at the rear. I've heard the glass won't stick to the gel well but it looks like you pulled it off pretty clean... Thoughts?
Works ok mate just used heavy grade sand paper (80 grade) to give it a good key and the same with your fixings , then clean of with acetone based cleanser (even nail varnish remover has acetone in it ), I pre -glued the fixing in place using heavy duty bonding glue, let it set properly then fibreglass it make sure you got a good size contact patch and you should be good to go mate
