How to set idle/sync carbs?

I'm trying to set up my cb350, and I need to know whether to set the idle and sync the carbs with the butterfly valve open or closed.
Pretty simple question, I just don't want to mess it up. :

I figured it out, but for future reference cb350 doesn't have vacuum taps unless you drill and tap them into the metal intake ports. :/

crazypj used to sell adapters - not sure if he still does (??).

If your gonna run pods on them have it sent out to CrazyPJ. Saved me lots of headaches.
