How's this for a different camera angle? Messing around today...

Been Around the Block
I'm feeling like doing another video (the ones I spend time on and upload to Vimeo not Youtube) but I'm trying to find newer ideas for camera angles before I do so. I kinda have to move quick though as it is getting pretty cold. I've got like 3 layer on!

Anyway, I thought this one would be cool for one short snip within the vid :) Only ran down my little street, wouldn't do this angle going full gas anywhere. Crazy looking device on my head for this. LOL I'd get pulled over for sure on regular roads @ regular speeds ;D

Yeah, it's a cool angle. I could see that as a pole coming off the helmet but you must have it on a swivel that rotates by tilting your head?? I'd think you'd want to do that a little slower so as not to make others dizzy. And only rotate it around when it makes sense to do so... such as when there is some good scenery nearby.
Nice job.

Hahaha.....

Cool, thanks guys.

It was totally just a test. If I use it in a clip, it will be very short cut (typical of my videos). For example, I'd use another shot then cut to this one which would be cut say from the 7 second mark to the 12 second and then off to something else. No nausea if done that way. I wouldn't just spin the thing and let it go (as I did in this clip) as I agree, it's not good.

If you pause it at the 7 second mark, start the clip and pause again at the 12 you'll see what I mean. Much better and how editing goes. Chop chop chop. ;D

I'll try to get a pic of the device when I get a minute. It is indeed a longish pole on a swivelling base I made up. Camera at one end and a counter weight at the other. I did this up my street at low speed because it is very "garage" and the helmet is not DOT approved so I didn't want to be too public about it. Cops would be fining me no doubt about it.

Again just a test for now. 8)

Better get a patent before,

Too late.

Hahaha

No......... I can't take credit for the creation of this thing. I first saw someone do this about 2 years ago (maybe longer even) on a mountain bike forum I belong to. Just never really got around to doing it myself. I'm just wanting to get as many different angles as possible on the next video. 8)
