Picked up a set of 4 VM30 carbs for a good deal yesterday. Wondering though, will these be too small for my Tempter? I can always part with the carbs for a profit, but would rather use them. Is a VM30 going to be too small for my 650 Twin?

Unfortunatly, yes. That said, they're perfect for RD350s, RD400s, and tons of other twins. You'll have no problem unloading them.

Von is right - VM30's are well sought after. Fwiw, guys put VM34's on XS650's, and that's what I have on my GR as well.

Awesome, thanks guys. Now to decide on who to sell them to ;D. My buddy Scott (Rubin on here) has a CL350 and my F.I.L just picked up a CB750. Sell 2 or all four together, that is the question!

I'd think you'd have a hard time putting 4 individual VM30's on a CB750. I've never seen it done. The first year or so of the 750 had 4 individual (i.e. not mechanically linked) carbs, but they quickly did away with that.

Sell a pair to Rubin for a good price seeing as he's a friend and member, and then cash in on the 2nd pair :)

30mm would work fine on 650 twin and probably give real impressive 'off the line' performance, it's just under 1-3/16", check what size carbs Triumph Bonneville was running on a 750 in the early 70's ;)
They were only 'good' for about 120mph though
Everyone keeps thinking bigger is better when really correct size for engine is better unless your only ever riding on the track

Depending on what you want for them, I may pick them up. Ive been told they work really well on a slightly modified Yammy 2 smoke. Plus I know of a buddy who has a cl360 with no carbs...
